BSF Commemorates its Brave hearts today

Chief guest Mr. Ajay Kumar Mishra Minister of state for Home Affairs paid homage to the brave hearts and flagged off the All – Women Mashaal Motor cycle rally

On 23rd Oct 2021, Border Security Force commemorated the supreme sacrifice made by its valiant Seema Praharis in the line of duty by organizing a day long ceremony at the National Police Memorial, New Delhi.

Officers and families of BSF personnel joined the families of the valiant bravehearts who laid down their lives in the line of duty, and paid homage at the ‘Wall of Valour’ at the National Police Memorial, followed by felicitation of their next-of-kin. A Shaheed Samman Parade was conducted at the venue.

Chief Guest and Hon’ble Minister of State for Home Affairs, Sh Ajay Kumar Mishra and Dr S L Thaosen, IPS, SDG BSF laid wreath at the memorial in the presence of family members of the BSF heroes.

The Hon’ble Minister also flagged off all-women Mashaal Motorcycle Rally which passed through some of the iconic landmarks in Delhi via RashtrapatiBhavan, Parliament House, India Gate, Red Fort and Raj Ghat before terminating at CGO Complex, New Delhi.

Commemorating the stellar role of BSF in the 1971 Liberation War of Bangladesh as well as the various operations in Counter-Insurgency, BSF war veterans and gallantry awardees were felicitated followed by a band display and an audio visual show that displayed the valour, grit and selfless services of BSF personnel to the nation while upholding valorous tradition of the Force.

As India is celebrating 75 years of Independence as ‘AzadiKaAmritMahotsav’, the contributions of BSF in upholding the sovereignty and integrity of India’s borders are studded with gallant acts of heroism by its Seema Praharis right from the raising of the elite border guarding force.

Ever since the force was raised on 1st December 1965, the BSF has played a stellar role in safeguarding the national interests. During the many such operational engagements that include the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War while deployed both along the Western and Eastern borders, Punjab militancy, J&K, North-East and LWE theatres, till date 1927 personnel have laid down their lives in the line of their sacred duty of upholding the sovereignty & integrity of our motherland.
