Karnataka celebrates Kittur Rani Chennamma Jayanthi today
In Karnataka, Kittur Rani Chennamma Jayanthi was celebrated today. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj S Bommai garlanded the statue of the Queen in Hubbali today in Dharwad district. Rani Chennamma was a brave ruler who led an armed rebellion against the British East India Company in 1824.
During the Jayanthi celebration today, Chief Minister Bommai announced that a sum of 50 crore rupees will be sanctioned for the Kittur Development Authority in the current year. He said that Rani Chennamma and his lieutenant Sangolli Rayanna still inspire us by their bravery and courage. He added that their rule and patriotism will always be remembered by us.
