Hyderabad: NYKS Conducts clean India Drive at Charminar

As a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) conducts Clean India drive on Monday at Charminar in the city.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest NYKS Regional Director Shri.Satya Prakash Patnaik said that through this campaign “we are not only organising clean India drive but also generating awareness about clean and healthy surroundings.” As a part of Clean India programme various activities under arbeing taken up in districts of Telangana, he further said.

As a part of this drive, NYK, NSS volunteers collected waste including single use plastic from the surrounding areas of Charminar and locals were made aware about the benefits of cleanliness and were advised to avoid single use plastics and their proper disposal.

Addressing the media NYKS State Director Shri Anshuman Prasad Das, said that  the Clean India campaign is conducted throughout the country covering 744 districts, six lakh villages with the involvement of more than 2.5 lakh youth clubs on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amruth Mahotsav.

At the beginning of the ceremony, a Swachhata pledge was administered by the NYKS District Youth Officer Ms. Khushbu Gupta to the volunteers, comprising NYKS and local youth who carried out the campaign in the areas surrounding Charminar in the city.

Government of India had launched the ‘Clean India’ program on 1st October aiming at creating awareness on cleanliness as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75years of India’s Independence.

Shri. Surya Kumar GHMC Deputy Commissioner,  Md.Sohail Quadri Charminar Corporator, Shri Srinivas Deputy Executive Engineer Sanitation , Shri Venugopal SETWIN Director participated in the program as special invites.     Staff & Officials NYKS, NSS  and  about 150 volunteers   from various associations  participated in this clean India programme.
