CEC Tashi Gyaltson inaugurates 3-day First Ladakh Birds Festival in Leh

LAHDC Leh CEC Tashi Gyaltson inaugurated a 3-day First Ladakh Birds Festival in Leh on Thursday. On the occasion Tashi Gyaltson has declared “Black-necked Crane” as the Ladakh State Bird officially.

Speaking on the occasion he said that Ladakh’s rich biodiversity has to be protected. He complemented Ladakh wildlife department and various NGOs that are involved in census of wildlife in the region.

Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal said Ladakh in the Himalayan region is known for rich flora and fauna. He said various departments including NGOs have created awareness on the importance of protecting nature and wildlife.

UT Principal Secretary Dr Pawan Kotwal directed the wildlife department to document various training programs and workshop output for the future. UT secretary Preetpal Singh said the wildlife department works in collaboration with the NGOs for awareness and conservation programs.

On the occasion of the first Ladakh Birds Festival, CEC Tashi, MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Pawan kotwal have released “The Changpa” and “Explorer Tashi meets the Changpa” workbook for the students.
