Union Minister for Coal, Railways and Mines Shri Raosaheb Danve said that he was pleased with the performance of Singareni Calories Company Limited and appreciated the company’s progress not only in coal production but also in the thermal and solar power sectors. In Hyderabad on Monday he met Chairman and MD of Singareni Calories Company. He spoke after holding a review meeting with Shri N. Sridhar.
Shri Raosaheb Danve said the company’s growth in coal production over the past 6 years is commendable. C&MD talks about Singareni and the progress it has made. Along with Shri N. Sridhar, Director (Operations) Shri S. Chandrasekhar explained through a PowerPoint presentation that Union Minister Shri Danve took special interest in each subject and got to know the full details. Singareni is very happy to venture into solar power generation along with thermal power. Singareni suggested that solar power plants could be set up in other states like Maharashtra.
The company has taken up Naini and New Patrapada blocks in the state of Odisha, while coal blocks could be set up in other states as well. Environmental measures taken by Singareni, sand production from overburden, CSR He expressed his happiness over the development work being carried out with the funds. Speaking to the chairman on the occasion, he said that he would like to visit Singareni soon. He said he would also visit the Singareni mines, solar power plants and a thermal power plant next month or so. He said Singareni’s multi-faceted efforts in meeting the country’s and energy needs were an ideal age for others.
Also present at the review meeting were Director (Finance, Projects and Planning, Personnel) Shri N. Balaram, Director (E&M) Shri D. Satyanarayana Rao, E.D. (Cole Moment) Mr. J. Alvin, G.M. (Coordination) Shri K. Suryanarayana participated.

He then attended the 47th Coal India Foundation Day celebrations in Kolkata via video conference. He conveyed his message from Hyderabad that Colindia was playing a key role in the country’s progress and urged further increase in coal production in this direction. He said that public sector undertakings should be responsible for providing coal to thermal power plants in the country without any shortage. Colindia expects coal production to reach 1000 million tonnes by 2025.
