Telangana Forest Dept: Tiger skin seized in Asifabad two arrests
Forest officials have arrested two people for illegally moving tiger skin in Asifabad in Kumarakom Bhim district. Kotnaka Devarao and Umbrella Avinash brought the skin from Vadagam village in Indravelli zone of Adilabad district, forest officials said.
After interrogating them in connection with the case, the forest department led by Adilabad district forest officer Rajasekhar arrested Mesram Manku, Mesram Deepak, Mesram Chandrakant, Mesram Ishwar and Mesram Laxman from Vadagam village with the help of Utnoor and Asifabad FDOs and Kagaznagar forest personnel.
Last year, a man named Penduru Devarao was found trapped in a trap set for wild boar on a farm in Valugonda village in Indravelli Mnadal, officials said. They searched Penduru Mukandrao’s house in the same village and found the tiger’s lower jaw and other bones.
The detainees will be produced before a Sirpur court magistrate after the trial. Meanwhile, tribals staged a two-hour protest in front of the forest department office in Indravelli, alleging that forest officials had entered their homes in the name of search and disrupted culture and traditions during the holy Dandari celebrations.
