TN,Puducherry Schools, colleges to remain closed for 2 days in view of incessant rainfall
TN, Puducherry to receive torrential rain for the next five days. Schools, colleges in Chennai to shut for 2 days.
In the Union Territory of Puducherry, two-day holiday has been declared for all schools and colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal districts for today and tomorrow due to incessant rains.
In an order, the Joint Director of the Education Department Sivagami said that due to incessant rain holiday has been declared for two days. It is further stated that the reopening of the government and the private school for Classes 1 to 8 had also been post-ponded due to the incessant rains in the Union Territory.
Earlier, it was decided to reopen the schools for 1 to 8 classes from today. The District Administration of Villupuram and Cuddalore also declared holiday to the schools and colleges today.
Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted that a cyclonic circulation over the Southeast Bay of Bengal – is expected to form a low-pressure area near the Tamil Nadu coast on November 9.

As a result, squally weather with wind speed reaching 40 to 50 Kmph gusting upto 60 Kmph is likely to prevail.
Based on the report, the UT Administration has been issuing regular weather warnings for all fishermen at sea and advised to return to the shore or to the nearest harbour at the earliest.
