Kerala: Heavy rains continue to lash Southern and Central parts of the state
Heavy rains continue to lash the Southern and Central parts of Kerala, wreaking widespread damage in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that immediate relief camps will be opened in landslide and flood prone areas as heavy rainfall is expected in the coming hours in central and Southern Kerala. Shutters of major dams in the region are raised as the water levels rose.

Control rooms are opened. High alert is issued in hilly and landslide-prone regions. Orange alert is declared in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Idukki districts today.

Meanwhile, water level in Idukki and Mullaperiyar dams are also rising. State Water Resources Minister Roshi Augustine said that shutters of Idukki Dam will not be opened today.
