MoS L. Murugan assures Centre’s support to Tamil Nadu govt in handling monsoon crisis

Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Dr. L. Murugan said that Tamil Nadu State Government was lacking in long vision and has not planned beforehand and prepared for the North-East Monsoon.

The Minister assured the support of the Central Government to the State Government in handling the monsoon crisis. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their support to the people of Tamilnadu.

The Minister visited the rain-affected suburban areas around Chennai. Meanwhile heavy rains lashed several places in Kanyakumari district severely affecting the normal life of people for the third day today.

Several places in the district recorded ten to 20 cms of rainfall in the past 24 hours. Train services have been cancelled due to landslides and water logging in the tracks. Restoration work has been undertaken in full measure by the Railways.
