Telangana to observe ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas’ on birth anniversary of Birsa Munda
In Telangana, Janjatiya Gaurav Divas will be observed at a week-long Tribal Festival from today as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75 years of independence.
The festivities will continue till the 20th of this month. As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav events, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has designed to hold Janjatiya Gaurav Divas and celebrate an iconic week on the eve of the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda from today.
As part of it, the Tribal Cultural Research & Training Institute of Telangana Tribal Welfare Department has lined up a series of events across the state. As part of it, two documentary videos of freedom fighters – Ramji Gond and Kumram Bheem will be released.
Late Ramji Gond fought guerrilla warfare in Nirmal Ghats against the combined forces of the Britishers and the Nizam Government of erstwhile State of Hyderabad during the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857 and died of martyrdom in 1860. Kumram Bheem fought in 1940 for free rights over Jal-Jungle – Zameen in Jodeghat area of K.B. Asifabad district and attained martyrdom
