Red Alert issued in Northern Tamil Nadu for Nov 18 as low-pressure area over North Andaman Sea moves to Southeast Bay of Bengal
The Regional Met Department has said that the low pressure area over North Andaman Sea and neighbourhood moved westwards and lay over South east Bay of Bengal today morning. It is likely to move nearly westwards and reach west central and adjoining South west Bay of Bengal off South Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu Coasts on 18th November.
The State just limped back to normalcy after continuous widespread rainfall in all the coastal districts. Government machinery was at top gear and accelerated relief and rescue work on war footing after witnessing rains for a week .

In this background, red alert has been issued to Chennai, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Ranipet on the 19th.The prediction of the Met department is that light to moderate rainfall will be witnessed at many places and heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over South Andhra and north Coastal Tamilnadu for another two days.Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea tomorrow and on the 18th. Will the rains go away and come again another day is so apt for this north east monsoon season.
