Film star Puneeth Rajkumar to be honoured with Karnataka Ratna award

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has announced Karnataka Ratna award for the film star Puneeth Rajkumar popularly known as Power Star who passed away last month. He will be the 10th recipient of the state’s highest civilian honour.

Speaking at an event organised to pay homage to the departed actor, Chief Minister Bommai said that Puneeth was a man of character in real life. He said a memorial will be built for the departed actor like the one built for his father and legendary actor Dr. Rajkumar.

It was on October 29th that the 46 year old Puneeth Rajkumar had passed away due to cardiac arrest. The young actor was not only popular on celluloid screen but had contributed generously to charities and foundations including a donation of 50 lakh rupees paid to the Karnataka CM Relief Fund to help fight Covid 19.
