Mercury slips further in Kashmir valley; Srinagar records coldest night of season

In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmir Valley has been witnessing foggy conditions during the morning hours for the past over one week and the mercury slipped further today as cold-wave conditions persisted in the valley with Srinagar recording its coldest night of the season at minus 2.3 degrees Celsius.

The Kashmir Valley has been experiencing sub-zero temperatures for the past few nights and in most places, the mercury has remained two to three notches below the normal for this part of the season.

Pahalgam in south Kashmir which serves as the base camp for the annual Amarnathji Yatra, recorded a low of minus 4.4 degrees Celsius last night. It was the coldest recorded place in the Kashmir valley.
