52nd edition of IFFI continues on 4th day, award-winning films screened across venues
Cinematic festivity continued on day 4 of the 52nd edition of IFFI. A mix of award-winning Indian and foreign films was screened across venues in Goa.
Renowned filmmakers Shoojit Sircar and Ronnie Lahiri took a masterclass today. During the masterclass, Mr. Sircar, the director of the film Sardar Udham spoke about the movie’s storytelling. Ukrainian filmmakers also took the Red Carpet at the 52nd IFFI today. Their film ‘Rhino’, was screened at the festival today.
Based on a story about a young boy who starts out as a petty thief, the movie portrays the boy as he quickly works his way up the criminal hierarchy. A special tribute to Sir Sean Connery, who immortalized the role of James Bond on the celluloid was also given today with a screening of his Bond thriller, Goldfinger. Gravedigger’s Wife, winner of the grand prize at the Pan-African Film and Television Festival will be screened later in the day today.
The movie by Finnish-Somali writer-director Khadar Ayderus Ahmed is a moving story of love and devotion which follows the protagonist Guled played by Omar Abdi. Based in Somalia, Guled is a man who makes a precarious living from loss. Later in the day, IFFI is also paying homage to late veteran actress Surekha Sikri, in her film ‘Badhai Ho’ starring Ayushmann Khurana and Sanya Malhotra.
