Dr. L. Murugan on a day-long visit to Andaman and Nicobar islands
Minister of State for Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Fisheries as well as Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan was on a day-long visit to Andaman and Nicobar islands. He attended the Fishermen Community Interaction Programme in Port Blair this evening.
During the interaction, Dr. Murugan gave patient listening to all the issues raised before him by local fishermen. The issues were ranging from development of fishing jetties, fish landing centres, grant of permission to pass the creek for shortest route to North and Middle Andaman for fishing and providing more facilities to the local fishermen community.
In his address, the MoS assured the local fishermen community to take appropriate steps to resolve the issues. He also apprised the gathering about steps taken by the government to promote the fishing sector in India.
He informed about creation of Fishing Infra and Aquaculture Development Fund for betterment of fishermen. He urged the fishermen community to come forward and take maximum advantage of central flagship schemes like PM Matsya Sampada Yojana. Later, he took part in the rally organized by the party.
