Asian Rowing Championships: Arjun Lal Jat and Ravi win Gold in Men’s Doubles Sculls; Parminder Singh bags Silver in Men’s Singles Sculls
In the Asian Rowing Championships underway in Bangkok, Indian rower duo Arjun Lal Jat and Ravi won the gold medal in the men’s double sculls event yesterday. On the other hand, Parminder Singh clinched a silver in the men’s single sculls competition.
Arjun and Ravi sailed past Chinese pair of Qing Li and Lutong Zhang and Uzbekistan’s Davrjon Davronov and Abdullo Mukhammadiev for the gold medal at the Royal Thai Navy Rowing Center in Rayong.
In the men’s single scull event, Parminder had to settle for a silver medal as he missed the gold by 11 seconds. Uzbekistan’s Kholmurzaev Shakhboz won the gold medal while Indonesia’s Memo finished third for bronze.
The Indian rowers will be in contention for more medals today as they will compete in the finals of five more events.
This is India’s second straight podium finish in the men’s doubles sculls event at the continental event, having won a bronze at the 2019 Asian Rowing Championship.
