Karnataka: Govt decides to enhance prize money given to winners of gallantry awards in armed forces
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has said that the Government has decided to enhance the prize money given to the winners of gallantry awards in the armed forces. He was speaking at the Vijay Diwas organized at the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment training school in Belagavi today.
The State Government has enhanced the prize money given by it to Paramveer Chakra and Ashoka Chakra winners from 25 lakh to one crore 50 lakh rupees. Similarly prize money for Mahaveer Chakra winners is enhanced from 12 lakh to one crore rupees.
Keerthi Chakra winners will get one crore rupees, Veer Chakra and Shaurya Chakra winners will get 50 lakh rupees. For those honored with bravery medals in Navy, Airforce and Army, the State Government will give 15 lakh rupees.

The Chief Minister stressed that the decision to enhance the prize money is taken as a mark of respect towards our armed forces personnel. Recalling the role played by our brave soldiers during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, the Chief Minister said that Indian armed forces have always displayed courage and valor in defending our country from external and internal enemies.
