Omicron Scare: Kerala State Health Minister says, self-monitoring will be carried out as per the central guidelines
Kerala State Health Minister Veena George said that self-monitoring will be strictly enforced in the wake of Omicron confirmation in a person who returned from a non-high-risk country in the state.
The self-monitoring will be carried out as per the central guidelines. The Minister informed that surveillance has been intensified at airports and ports by setting up labs and testing facilities. So far, five cases of omicron have been confirmed in the state.

In the wake of confirmation of Omicron, a special vaccination drive will be organized in the state tomorrow and the day after tomorrow to boost up covid vaccination in people who have not yet received the vaccine shots.
Kerala confirmed 3,404 new COVID-19 positive cases today. 36 deaths were also confirmed due to COVID today, taking the total death toll to 43,946. Bringing respite, 4,145 recoveries were also reported today. At present, 34,171 is the active caseload in the state.
