Visakhapatnam: IGZP has been nominated as an institutional member in the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums
Ms. Nandini Salaria Curator Indira Gandhi Zoological Park was happy to announce that IGZP nominated as an Institutional Member in the World Association of ZOOs and Aquariums.
WAZA is the global alliance of regional associations, national federations, zoos and aquariums, dedicated to the care and conservation of animals and their habitats around the world.
The membership consists of nearly 400 leading institutions and organizations around the world. Being a part of this prestigious association will be fruitful for the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park in umpteen ways.

The WAZA membership implies that all members will endeavour to keep a high standard of husbandry and veterinary care, participation in coordinated species management programmes, contribution to relevant scientific studies, compliance with national and international legislation, maintenance of animal record systems, environmental education programmes, conservation activities, ethical guidelines and support of regional and national associations.
Thus, being WAZA membership, it benefits Indira Gandhi Zoological Park being a part of a highly reputed association unifying the leading zoos and aquariums and the most influential regional zoo associations of the world.
The association also are members of IUCN, International Zoo Educators association and RSPO. Therefore, with the association, IGZP will now have links to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora and others.
