The Foundation Stone for World’s largest Green Hydrogen Microgrid Project was laid by the Shri Diwakar Kaushik – Chief General Manager –Simhadri on 30th December 2021 at NTPC Simhadri.
The Ceremony took place in the august presence of Shri. A K SRIVASTAVA, CGM(USSC), Shri G C Choukse-GM(O&M) and other esteemed dignitaries from USSC, Simhadri, Representatives from Union and Association.
NTPC Ltd, India’s largest integrated energy company has awarded project of ‘Standalone Fuel-Cell based 50 kW Micro-grid Pilot project with hydrogen production using electrolyser’ to M/s Bloom Energy India Pvt Ltd- Bangalore at NTPC Simhadri (Andhra Pradesh). This will be India’s first Green Hydrogen based Energy Storage Project and one of world’s largest.
The hydrogen would be produced using the advanced 240 kW Solid Oxide Electrolyser by taking input power from the nearby Floating Solar project. The hydrogen is being produced during sunshine hours and stored at high pressure and would be used by a 50 kW Solid Oxide Fuel Cell. The system would work in a standalone mode from 5 PM to 7 AM.
This unique project configuration is designed in-house by NTPC.. The project is in-line with the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister for becoming carbon neutral by 2070.
