Lakshya Sen clinches Men’s Singles title of India Open; Pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty lifts Men’s Doubles trophy
It proved to be a blockbuster Sunday for the Indians in the Badminton arena after Lakshya Sen in Men’s Singles and pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty in Doubles lifted India Open titles in New Delhi yesterday.
World championship bronze medallist Lakshya defeated reigning World Champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore 24-22, 21-17 in the Summit Clash yesterday evening.
Earlier in the day, India’s top-ranked Men’s Doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty beat the top seeded Indonesian pair of Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan 21-16, 26-24 in the final in 43 minutes.


Sports Minister congratulates Lakshya Sen for winning India Open Singles title
Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has congratulated badminton players Satwik Sairaj and Chirag Shetty for becoming the first Indian Men’s doubles pair to win the India Open tournament. In a tweet, the Minister said the duo aced it in a thrilling game.
Mr Thakur also congratulated Lakshya Sen who won India Open 2022 Men’s Singles title. He said, it is a fabulous victory and wonderful feeling to win on his debut against the world champion.
