World Wetland Day: One Day National Webinar on “Conservation of Wetlands”
On commemoration of World Wetland Day on 2nd Feb, 2022 under ‘Green Belt Programme’, University College for Women, Koti, Hyderabad has organized a One Day National Webinar on “Conservation of Wetlands” in collaboration with Telangana State Biodiversity Board (TSBDB). Aim of the Webinar was to spread awareness and help society in the conservation of wetland bodies.
Shri Kalicharan S. Khartade IAS, Secretary, TSBDB was the Chief Guest. Under the stewardship of Chief Patron for the programmeProf. M. Vijjulatha, Principal the event was organized successfully. Patron, Dr. B. Shailaja, Vice-Principal also participated. Convener of the Webinar who is also the Director of the Green Belt Programme, Dr. P.R. Sushama, meticulously organized the event for the benefit of the community interested in ecological conservation.
Dr. S. SaiBhavaniand Dr. Mehtab Yasmeen were Co-Conveners along with the Green Belt Team Dr. RupashreeMukhopadhyay, Dr. K.S.N. Jyothi, Dr. Hajera Sana, Dr. RohiniChintha and Dr. G. Prabhakar.
The eminent speakers were Dr. A.V.V.S. Swamy, HoD, Dept. of Environmental Science and Dr. P. Brahmaji Rao, Chairman, BOS, Environmental Science from Acharya Nagarjuna University highlighted the importance and conservation of Wetlands.
There was an overwhelming response from students, research scholars and faculties from different Universities like Kakatiya University, Telangana University Andhra University, Osmania University and Prestigious Organizations like Botanical Survey of India etc.
