Visakhapatnam: IOCL sign MoU with Indira Gandhi Zoological Park for redevelopment works under CER activities
Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Visakhapatnam is pleased to inform you, that IOCL, Visakhapatnam has come forward to sponsor the redevelopment works in IGZP as part of CER (Corporate Environmental Responsibility) activity to a tune of Rs. 1.88 crores.
The MOU signing between ED, Indian Oil Corporation Limited & Curator, Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Visakhapatnam was held today at the Bioscope venue in IGZP.
We are very glad to associate with IGZP which is one of the Largest Zoos in India said Sh. Sanjay Kumar, V, Executive Director, SERPL, IOCL. He graced this applaudable program as a chief guest and expressed his views about this collaboration.
As the IOCL Mascot is Indian one horned Rhinoceros, this collaboration with the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Visakhapatnam gives us immense pleasure and makes us happy to contribute towards the Rhino night house enclosure development, headded. Later an official Agreement has been signed by ED, IOCL & Curator, IGZP.
We are very happy to collaborate with IOCL for various development works in Vizag Zoo, said Dr. Nandani Salaria, IFS, Curator, IGZP. These development works will cover the aspects of Animal welfare, Visitor amenities, Conservation Education & Outreach activities such as Night House for Himalayan Black Bear, Additional night house to striped hyena and Rhinoceros, Seating benches, Landscaping,
Public toilets, Bioscope up gradation, installation of dustbins, etc. of which already some of the works have been tendered through the e-procurement portal, some of which are finalized and work will be done by March and some are in the process of estimate sanction, she added. We aim to finish these works in time and with bets quality.
Also we are pleased to inform here with that IOCL has decided to take adoption of the Indian Rhinoceros named Nakul belonging to IGZP at Visakhapatnam initially for a period of three years under the Corporate Environment Responsibility (CER) initiative of IOCL.
An amount of Rs. 3, 00,000 (Rupees Three Lakh only) which is the annual expenditure amount for Rhinoceros adoption has been handed over by ED, IOCL to the Curator, IGZP. Sh. D S Rao, Chief General Manager (O), SERPL, IOCL, K. Narendra Babu, General Manager, SERPL, IOCL, P. Srinivasan, DGM, CGD, Visakhapanam, Assistant Curator-I, and other zoo officials and IOCL officials have participated in this program.
