Telangana: Rs.600 Cr CAMPA action plan for forest restoration works in the state
9thState Executive Committee of Telangana CAMPA was held on today under the Chairperson, Smt. R Sobha, PCCF(Hoff), Telangana which was attended by senior officers of Forest Department as well representatives of EFS&T, PR & RD, Finance, Planning, Agriculture, Tribal Development Departments.
The committee was appraised about the functioning of Telangana CAMPA. The progress of implementation of Annual Action Plan 2021-22 was reviewed. It approved the proposed Annual Action Plan for 2022-23 for Rs 600 crores to be referred to State Steering committee and National CAMPA, Govt. of India for final approval. For 2022-23, about 90 % of the funds are proposed for core forestry activities like protection of Reserve forest boundary, soil &moisture conservation, water harvesting structures, plantation activities, Forest fire management, augmentation of water and fodder facilities for wildlife, Silvicultural interventions like cultural operations and removal of invasive species based on “Forest Rejuvenation Plan” prepared for all the 1760 Reserve Forest Blocks in the state as per the “Jungle Bachao- Jungle Badhao” mandate given by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana.


Sri Lokesh Jayaswal IFS, Prl. CCF & Chief Executive Officer, Telangana CAMPA has informed that the forestry activities taken up inside the forest area with the funds of CAMPA, have improved the protection and improvement of Forests and Wildlife in the state of Telangana.
The India State of Forest Report 2021 published by the Forest Survey of India, Dehradun has also confirmed the increase of forest cover by 364 sq. km. and increase of carbon stock by 10.15 million tonnes in the forest areas of Telangana.
He further informed that Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change in association with Telangana Forest Department is organizing a National Workshop on CAMPArelated activities on 25th February 2022 at Hyderabad inviting Prl CCF (HoFF) and CEO CAMPA of all states & UTs in which the best practices in forestry & wildlife done in Telangana will showcased.
