Mizoram University made considerable progress in terms of infrastructure and academics, accredited ‘A’ grade by NAAC
One of the most reputed central Universities in the North East region is Mizoram University, which is a central University. With the passage of the last 20 years, Mizoram University, MZU has made considerable progress in terms of infrastructure and academics. MZU is accredited ‘A’ grade by NAAC.
The University is ranked within the top 100 Universities in the country. The University has 33 academic departments offering UG, PG, M.Phil, and Ph.D. programs. There are 8 Schools of Study run by the University. In the last few years, the MZU has taken many initiatives for excellence in academics. Recently, new feathers have been added to the cap of Mizoram University.
Along with taking continuous efforts to provide quality education, Mizoram University, MZU is gradually working on the expansion of educational infrastructure. Recently, the Ministry of human resource development has sanctioned 6 projects for this University. Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati has laid the foundation stones for these projects last week.
On the occasion, the Governor has said that these projects, sanctioned by the central government, will strengthen the University’s earnest efforts to provide quality education to the students.
He acknowledged that despite being a relatively young University, the MZU has become one of the better universities in the country. For this, he gave credit to the cumulative efforts of all the stakeholders since the inception.
Given the present situation, Governor Kambhapati emphasized upon the need for skill development programs and appealed to faculties to produce job creators instead of educated job seekers.
The Governor also highlighted the aptness of the National Education Policy, NEP 2020 which has been framed to make India a global knowledge superpower. Affirming his conviction of the NEP, he said that the policy has been designed in such a way that it meets both the local and global needs of the country. He further said that the New Education Policy 2020 would drive India to become economically self-reliant and a modern New India.
According to the Officials of the University, there will be 4 projects inside the MZU Campus and 2 projects in the Pachhunga University College. Within the MZU Campus, 1 Boys Hostel with a capacity of 100 seats, 2 Girls Hostels with a capacity of 100 seats each, and 1 Academic Building will be constructed. While in Pachhunga University College, 1 Academic Building and 1 Boys Hostel with a capacity of 50 seats will be constructed.
It is noted that Mizoram University is accredited ‘A’ Grade by NAAC. Also, according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework, MZU is ranked 67 in the country for the year 2020. The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2021 claims that MZU is ranked 21 in the country, and secured 1st place in North East India.
