India registered a thumping win against Sri Lanka in the first test match at Mohali by an innings and 222 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the 2 match test series.
Ravindra Jadeja was announced man of the match for his all-round performance. He scored unbeaten 175 runs and snared nine wickets across both innings.
Earlier India enforced the follow-on after bowling out Sri Lanka for just 174 in the first innings.
India’s ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin also took his 435th Test wicket today to become the second-highest wicket-taker in the longest format for India. He overtook Kapil Dev, who has 434 wickets to his name and is now only behind Anil Kumble’s 619 test wickets.
