International Day of Forests is being observed today
Today is International Day of Forests. It is observed every year on 21st March across the globe. The day is celebrated to raise awareness about the significance of different types of forests.
The theme for 2022 is Forests and sustainable production and consumption. On International Day of Forests, several countries across the world are encouraged to undertake local, national, and international efforts to organize activities involving forests and trees, such as tree-planting campaigns.

The day reminds people to value and save forests and the importance of forests in the lives of living creatures. Forests are also playing an important role in providing food, water, and shelter to animals as well as human beings.
Back in 1971, the 16th session of the Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization, FAO, gave their consent to World Forestry Day. Later United Nations General Assembly on 28th November 2012 had declared March 21 as International Day of Forests.
