Holistic development of women and children is crucial for transformational economic and social changes: Smriti Irani
Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani organized a zonal conference with nine states and Union Territories including Punjab and Haryana at Chandigarh yesterday.
Presiding over the conference, the Union Minister said, ensuring holistic development of women and children in a safe and secure environment is crucial for sustainable and equitable development of the country and for achieving transformational economic and social changes.
Ms. Irani informed that the prime motive of the Ministry is to address gaps in State action for women and children and promote inter-ministerial and inter-sectoral convergence to create gender equitable and child-centered legislation, policies, and programs. She added that Union Cabinet has approved 3 important Umbrella Schemes, Mission Poshan 2.0, Mission Shakti, and Mission Vatsalya of the Ministry that are to be implemented in mission mode.
Speaking on the occasion Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said, proper implementation of central sponsored programs is a must to achieve the target to empower women and children.
Dr. Kaur said, Women and Children needed equal opportunities in every sector. She said, violence and injustices are the core concern areas that created hindrances in holistic development.
