NTPC Simhadri launches Girl Empowerment Mission Campaign 2022
Group General Manager of Simhadri Super Thermal Power Plant of NTPC Shri G C CHOUKSE inaugurated Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) to impart a specially designed training programme to class 5th passed out students, at NTPC Township Deepanjalinagar on Monday in the presence of Shri B Rama Rao, CGM (FIN), Shri S Govinda Rajan -GGM (C&M) & Shri R K Jha GM (O&M).
Speaking on the occasion Shri G C Choukse emphasized on the importance of the programme and congratulated all the parents in encouraging their wards to take part in this prestigious and most useful residential workshop.
The GGM, a unique initiative of NTPC taken up as a part of its CSR (corporate social responsibility) activity. The programme is a four week residential workshop for 120 students who were 5th class passed out girl students of the government schools in the vicinity of the Simhadri.
In the beginning of the program Smt Rumade Sharma AGM (HR) NTPC Simhadri welcomed the gathering and said it is essential for the education system to enhance and empower girl-child in developing social, emotional and thinking skills
She said toppers from mandal parishad primary schools in Parawada and Pedagantyada mandals were selected for the 28-days program . The participants are given accommodation in executive trainees’ hostels. A control room with CCTV was also set up for the safety of girl children.
Training in yoga, soft skills, sports to empower BPL girl students:
The 120 girls will undergo a variety of extra-curricular activities including arts, sports, Yoga, dance, music computer education and also classes in civil defense all aimed at the holistic development of the personality.
Out of these, 120 girls and 10 toppers shall be selected and given admission in the schools running in respective NTPC Township. In addition to this, the total expenditure on education of these selected girls are also borne by NTPC
The above program was also attended by the DLC President along with team DLC, GMs from Simhadri & USSC-VPC ,CPG & PPG along with representatives from Union & Associations .
