Kerala urges Centre to grant relaxations for wildlife sanctuaries, national parks and in state while declaring one-kilometre Buffer Zones around these Protected Areas as eco-sensitive zones
Kerala Government has urged the Centre to grant relaxations for the wildlife sanctuaries, national parks and tiger reserves in the state while declaring the one-kilometre Buffer Zones around these Protected Areas as eco-sensitive zones. The State has 24 regions in these categories.

The State Government had already requested the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests to exempt the populated regions from the restrictions imposed on the Buffer Zones around the Protected Areas.
