Telangana Forest Dept to organize International Tiger Day in association with WCS-India and HyTiCoS at KBR Park

The celebration of International Tiger Day which is being organized at KBR National Park on 29 July between 9am to 1pm. The International Tiger Day is observed annually on July 29 around the world with the objective to promote public awareness and garner support for tiger conservation. The was founded at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit in 2010 in the wake of threat of tiger extinction in wild.

The event will have around 300-400 kids from around 8-10 schools participating in several activities like Camera Trap Selfies, Poster Presentation, Nature Conservation Based games (bingo, housie), occupancy game etc.

The event is designed to bring people together on a single platform to draw attention to the cause of conservation of tigers. The overall goal of the events is to promote protection and expansion of the wild tiger habitats and to gain support through awareness for tiger conservation.

In Telangana we have 2 tiger reserves, Kawal and Amrabad. We have around 20-25 tigers in both the Tiger Reserves. The conservation issues in Telangana include protection of tigers, habitat loss, development projects and loss of tiger prey.

There are 4 time slots and in each slot there will be orientation session, poster presentation, quiz, nature-learning games etc.
