A fresh batch of 835 pilgrim’s left Jammu camp for Amarnath shrine

In Jammu and Kashmir, a fresh batch of 835 Amarnath Yatris that had left from the Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp in Jammu early this morning towards Kashmir has been stopped and camped at Yatri Niwas in Chanderkote, Ramban due to the closure of Jammu- Srinagar National highway.

The Yatris include 219 women and 23 children. Vehicular traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar highway remains blocked for the second consecutive day today due to shooting stones at Mehad, Cafeteria Mode and Panthiyal in Ramban district.

The restoration work of the highway is going on and once cleared, the stranded Yatris will be allowed to move towards Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the Buddha Amarnath Yatra has started today in Poonch district of Jammu division. The First batch of 1,056 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp Jammu in 24 vehicles early this morning towards Buddha Amarnath in Poonch district.
