Country needs to go for energy transition and reduce dependence on imports to meet its energy targets of 2030: Govt
Power and New and Renewable Energy Minister R K Singh today stressed that the country needs to go for energy transition and reduce its dependence on imports to meet its energy targets of 2030.
Speaking in Lok Sabha on Energy Conservation (Amendment) Bill 2022, Mr Singh said, changes in policies are being done to replace fossil fuels. He noted as the country’s economy is growing, the energy demand is also rising.

The Minister underlined that the country has become power sufficient and nearly twenty hours of power supply is given to the villages. The Bill empowers the Central Government to specify a carbon credit trading scheme.
Carbon credit implies a tradeable permit to produce a specified amount of carbon emissions. Discussion is underway.
