Hyderabad: TSWR student Nandini breaks 100m hurdles national record in Colombia

Nandini from Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) became the first female athlete to qualify for the finals in 100m hurdles at the U-20 Junior World Athletics Championship.

Nandini broke her 100m hurdles national record of 13.58 seconds by clocking 13.34 seconds at the U-20 World Athletics Championship in Cali, Columbia. Minister for Scheduled Caste Development Department Sri Koppula Eeshwar and Secretary TSWREIS, Ronald Rose congratulated Nandini for her brilliant performance at the U-20 World Athletics Championship and wished good luck.

Secretary Ronald Rose expressed hope that Nandini would bring glory to the state of Telangana. He further said, “Nandini, a tea seller’s daughter defied extreme financial constraints to make it to the international level. Nandini’s life is a source of inspiration to thousands of marginalized girls in the state of Telangana.  

Secretary advised the girls, particularly from rural and marginalized background to make extra efforts to overcome the hardships and inhibitions in life and become successful in various fields.

Secretary thanked the government of Telangana and chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for launching 28 sports academies in various sporting disciplines. Sports Academies have been providing rigorous training to the talented athletes under the guidance of the finest coaches of national repute.
