Hyderabad: The 10-day Ganesh Utsavs concludes peacefully and successfully

Hyderabad, a mammoth Ganesh Immersion procession is underway amidst massive security arrangements, so far peacefully.

The 10-day long Ganesh festivities came to an end today. Devotees are bidding farewell to Lord Ganesha and immerse the idols in about 30 lakes and over 25 more additional tiny artificial ponds in and around Hyderabad.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has installed about 300 cranes of various capacities at these lakes for immersion.

The 50 feet high Pancha Mukha Maha Ganapathi idol which was made completely with clay has been taken out in Shobha Yatra to Hussain Sagar.

Thousands of devotees are participating in the annual procession while chanting slogans -from Balapur to Hussain Sagar, about 22 kilometers.

Hundreds of trucks carrying Ganesh idols in various hues and sizes are heading towards Hussain Sagar. The Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi, the organisers of the procession, set up special platforms at Charminar and Moazzam Jahi Market to welcome lord Ganesh. Police were keeping a close watch on the procession from the command and control centre linked with CCTV cameras installed along the procession route.

The mammoth procession has brought the entire city to a stand-still. Police have imposed traffic restrictions till tomorrow morning. Liquor shops and bars will remain closed in the limits of all three police commissionerates.

Hyderabad especially the surroundings of Hussain Sagar lake are resounding with Ganapathi Bappa Moria and Jai Bolo Ganesh Maharaj ki as the Ganesh immersion process assumed brisk pace. The surroundings of the lake wore a festive look when the procession of the 50 -feet high Khairatabad Maha Ganesh idol immersed with all traditional offerings a short while ago.

After offering prayers to Lord Ganesha for the past 10 days at specially erected pandals, devotees in Hyderabad started bringing Ganesh idols of various hues, colors and sizes for immersion. Local authorities and Police have made all arrangements to ensure peaceful and timely completion of Ganesh Visarjan.
According to local authorities, about 30 thousand idols will be immersed in and around Hyderabad. Artificial baby ponds also have been set up for the purpose. The procession will continue till the last idol immersed late in the night. About 30 thousand personnel from police and other departments have been deployed to ensure safe and peaceful immersion of Ganesh Idols in Hhyderabad
