Hyderabad: Ph.D. to Praveen Kumar GITAM faculty
The JNTU, Kakinada has awarded Ph.D. in Electronics and Communications to K.Praveen Kumar for his thesis ‘New Image Restoration Methods Based on Different Wavelet Transforms with Total Variation Models and Deep Learning Techniques’ submitted under the supervision of Dr. C. Venkata Narasimhulu, Professor of ECE & Principal, Lords Institute of Engineering and Technology (A) and Dr. K. Satya Prasad, Retired Professor of ECE, UCEK (A) JNTU, Kakinada. Praveen Kumar has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of ECE, School of Technology, GITAM, Hyderabad.
The image restoration process is used in restoring the various images in the medical field, satellite images, scientific explorations, legal investigations, etc. like finding the suspected person taken by a security camera for investigations and the degraded medical image to be restored to understand the health condition of the patient. An efficient method is required for restoring the image to better quality. In this research, various algorithms with different types of wavelets and deep learning techniques are implemented to recover the degraded images efficiently.
This research is carried out using the MATLAB tool provided by the GITAM research lab, and she has published 14 research papers in various reputed journals and international conferences.
Prof. D.S.Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor, GITAM, Hyderabad, DVVSR Varma, Resident Director, Prof. N.Seetaramaian, Associate Director, School of Technology, Prof. T.Madhavi, HoD, EECE, and Heads of various engineering & basic science departments and faculty appreciated Praveen Kumar on his achievement.
