Agroforestry Tool & Sharing of Landscape Management Planning and Working Plan Manual officially launched by Minister Allola
Hyderabad: Forestry and Environment Minister Indrakaran Reddy said that the Forestry Department will take steps to provide financial assistance to the farmers and the marginalized groups who depend on it for the development of the forest area with the help of technology.
Forest Plus 2.0. As part of the programme, Decision Support System (DSS) – Agroforestry Tool & Sharing of Landscape Management Planning and Working Plan Manual was formally launched by Minister of Forests and Environment Indra Karan Reddy on Nov 18 at Hyderabad.

Shanthikumari, PCCF& HoFF R.M.Dobriyal, PCCF&CEO (Compa) Lokesh Jaiswal, USAID (India) Senior Forestry Advisor Vargispal, ForestPlus 2.0 Chief of Divisional Pradhan, Additional Director of Forestry, Additional Director of Forestry. Sailu, circle heads of forest department and forest officers of all districts participated.
Decision Support System (DSS) – Agroforestry Web Portal, Community Based Ecosystem Tourism Brochure was launched on this occasion as part of the Forest Plus 2.0 program undertaken by USAID and the Union Department of Forestry and Environment. Later, various programs implemented by USAD as a part of Forest Plus 2.0 in Medak Forest Division for the last three years – progress and goals achieved were discussed in this meeting.
Speaking on this occasion, he informed that technical processes, forest inventory information collection, management, planning and monitoring have been facilitated in the past three years with the joint participation of the Department of Forest and Environment of the United States of America (USAID).
The completion of information collection in 56 divisions of Telangana through VAN SYSTEM is commendable. The minister suggested that all forest department officials should use this opportunity provided by USAID to imbibe technical knowledge and work for the development of forest area.
On this occasion, the minister explained the work being done for the government of Telangana to increase the greenery as a part of the forest development, rejuvenating forests and greening programme. He said that due to irrigation projects, construction of Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhagiratha and check dams, the ground water level has increased. He said that Telangana will become a green state through Harithaharam programme.
Mr. Shanruth said that climate change is not limited to any region or country, it is a problem faced by all countries in the world and everyone should work together to overcome the adverse weather challenges. He appreciated that Telangana government is making pioneering efforts.
Key Objectives of ForestPlus 2.0- Details:
This program was conducted as a continuation of the Forest Plus program conducted in 2019. ForestPlus 2.0 is being implemented by the United States International Development Agency (USAID) in joint partnership with the Department of Forestry and Environment.
ForestPlus 2.0 with the theme of Water – Forests for Prosperity in collaboration with USAID. The program is being implemented in Medak Forest Division.
Forest divisions in three states have been selected as part of this programme. Along with Bihar and Kerala states, Medak of Telangana is in the division list.
New Software Decision Support System (DSS-PE) developed by USAID. With this tool, farmers, various departments and organizations can know what plants to plant and what crops to grow in their agricultural field.
The main objective of this program is to strengthen the ecosystem through forest management to provide income sources to the people as part of which USAID will work towards forest development by December 2023.
Go to the area where the crops or plants are to be planted and open the tool in the mobile and GPS. By turning on the system, it knows what plants to plant or what crops to grow in that land. Also, this tool includes a list of plants to grow along with detailed plant details.
