Mumbai: Metro carshed to be moved from Aarey Colony to Kanjurmarg: MH CM
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today announced that the controversial Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro 3 carshed will be moved from the eco-sensitive Aarey Milk Colony to Kanjurmarg.
In his live interaction with the people of the state, Mr Thackeray stated that Maharashtra government has withdrawn all cases against protesters who opposed metro carshed at Aarey.
He clarified that since the land at Kanjurmarg is government land, it will be available for Metro at zero cost.
He also stated the building which has come up in Aarey forest will be utilised for some other public purpose. He added that about 100 crore rupees expenditure was incurred for the purpose and it won’t go waste.
The Chief Minister said, the government had earlier declared 600 acre of Aarey land as forest but now it has been revised to 800 acre. He assured that there will be no infringement on rights of tribals in the Aarey forest. Mr Thackeray said that biodiversity in Aarey needs to be to conserved and protected.
Speaking about new farm laws, Mr Thackeray said that his government will not accept farm bills blindly. He said that the state government is analysing its impact and also the objections raised from various stake holders.
The CM reiterated his appeal to the people to take all necessary precautions like wearing mask while going out, maintaining safe social distance and washing hands frequently.
