TS: Arvind Kumar visited Himayat Sagar Reservoir
Hyderabad; Himayat Sagar and Usman Sagar (Gandipeta) are at the forefront of projects that meet the drinking water needs of the city of Hyderabad. The twin reservoirs were flooded almost a decade after heavy rains over the past few days. In Gandipet, the city needs more than expected. In particular, the Himayat Sagar Reservoir has become flooded. With this, Arvind Kumar, Principal Secretary, Municipal and Urban Development and Dana Kishore MD Water Board visited Himayat Sagar today.
On this occasion, the MD General Secretary was asked to report the history of Himayat Sagar and the inflow of 4,44,604 cusecs of water into the reservoir due to the rains so far and release 4,39,820 cusecs of water into the river. On the occasion, Arvind Kumar asked MD Dana Kishore about the reservoir, which is a hundred-year-old man-made structure whose gates are still maintained manually rather than in automation.
Later, MD Dana Kishore toured the flooded areas in Bahadurpura constituency in the old town. While touring Hashamabad, Alzubail Colony, Kabgir Nagar, Ghazimillat Colony under Division 1 O&M, he inquired about the supply of drinking water, water tankers and chlorine tablets. Authorities have been directed to carry out immediate repairs in the areas where the pipelines were destroyed due to the rains without causing any inconvenience to the people.
The event was attended by Water Board Executive Director M Satyanarayana, Technical Director VL Praveen Kumar, Operations Director Ajmira Krishna, CGMs, GMS and other concerned officials.
